Design and project management of the Old Colombino Stadium Park, situated in the neighbourhood of Isla Chica, at the request of the Huelva City Council and in collaboration with the landcaper Charles Roger Vallotton Ortega.
Initially, we were faced with a degraded area corresponding to the Old Stadium of Recreativo de Huelva which was dismantled in 2007.
This park is approximately 9000 m2 which has been allocated to children’s equipment with recycling as the theme, an outdoor gym, a carpark, and where the stadium’s stands once were is now an area for contemplative use.
Finally, 4000 m2 of the park is comprised of a meadow with masses of trees and shrubs defining the main axis and where almost all of the life of the park takes places.
There are many innovations in design and species as far as public gardens in Huelva are concerned, such as masses of shrubs of different shades. These include Pennisetum setaceum, Stipa tenuissima, Gaura lindheimeri, Echium candicans and trees such as Erythrina caffra, Schinus terebinthifolius and Cinnamomum camphora.
